Green Lane Day Christmas Special 28 December 2014

The last Green Lane outing took place on Sunday 28 December 2014. This was a charity and fun day out with truck owners being invited to decorate their vehicles for a small entry fee.

Three trucks set off at 08:00 from the Red Lion, Nantwich to meet the rest of the crew at the Rhug Cafe, Corwen. After a brief coffee / bacon butty break, the award (tub of Roses chocolates) for the best dressed truck, and best dressed individuals as well, went to Andy and Karen Boyle. Good effort folks.

All in all, 7 trucks set off towards Bala and Dolgellau, on a beautiful, crisp winter morning – 2 Discoverys, 2 110s and 3 90s. Plenty of evidence of the snowfall that hit Wales and the Midlands on Boxing Day, still prevalent. Temperature didn’t rise much above freezing throughout the day.

Steve Jervis and Suzi Wyman kindly led the group, followed by Billy, Keith and Robyn; Baz; Graham and family; Andy and Karen; new member Fraser and dad Phil and right at the back Ray, Andrea, Molly, Gus and Harry. As usual, plenty of banter on the CB, especially about any vehicle defects, in this case Steve’s broken brake light ! No major mishaps, although Fraser did manage a broadside, over-correcting after dropping his nearside front off the road and almost t-boned by Ray.

We took the A4212 out of Bala and headed to the Coed y Brenin Forest, finishing along the Tanat Valley at Llanymynech.

A great day out, enjoyed by everyone and a fine finish to the 2014 year for the Club.

See you all in 2015 on Tuesday 13 January at the Red Lion in Nantwich for the first Club Meet of the New Year

Happy New Year everyone
